I'm Here!!

Well, I am here in Central Asia! I can hardly believe it! I've been here for three days and it feels like home- sort of :) My housemates- Tanya and Natasha are wonderful! Very helpful and they both speak english so they are able to help translate for the other members of the team so I kinda know whats going on.
Day 1
Well, after arriving at 4:30 in the morning, Sasha (the team leader), Dima, and Tanya came and met me at the airport. It was an interesting drive to the house. it was my first and experience riding in a vehicle in Kyrgyzstan. They get more exciting every time! I'll skip through the boring stuff, and got my room all set up and then took a little nap. When I woke up Tanya was having a group meeting with some of the kids and there were three of them celebrating a birthday recently so I got to participate in the party! :) We had cake and pepsi! And I showed the kids my photo album and the book of New York. They seemed to like it very much. Later that evening, everyone on the team went out for dinner, and it was there that I met the rest of the people. We ate at a resturant called YUSA and it was very good!! There are ten of us on the YFC team and then our leader Sasha and his wife Olga. It is quite the international team as well. There is 3 from the Ukraine, 5 from Kyrgyzstan, 1 from Uzbekistan (who is Korean), and me from the USA. I guess you could call us a mut ministry :) But it was really good to get to meet them all. I think they will be great to work with!
Day 2
My second day here I went with the team, and everyone went to a boys detention center where a few of the team members have a ministry. We played some games and I caught on pretty good for not understanding the directions! It was fun. Then we sang some praise songs and Dima did the Word study. Afterwards the guys all went out side to play football (soccer). As they were finishing up, I went in with the girls to set up the food that we brought for them, along with a little treat and of course tea! It was really good to be a part of things so soon. I love the people on the team, they are all pretty nice and very welcoming. The love God and have a passion for youth ministry.
Then Natash took me to the store so I could pick up a couple things and exchange my money. There is so much with in walking distance of our house- I like that. But it may be a while yet before I venture out by myself. Though my Russian is improving a little every day. I can't wait until I am able to understan everything and partake in the conversations with my team.
